Online Tutoring on Freelance sites
When I started freelancing online, I found out several ways I could earn by doing simple things I was passionate about.
I discovered two platforms that I could teach on. I will share in greater details how these platforms work in my next post. The two platforms are Amazing Talker and Preply.
Prepare yourself to teach online effectively. After you go through all the steps I explain in this post, you are able to create a convincing teacher profile on both platforms. This profile has to be attractive to the students you are targeting. After the interview, you are ready to start. What I like most about these two platforms is that you set your own rates. This means you can earn as much as $50/hour working with a flexible schedule. Like, for me when I started I would work 3hrs only in the evening and still made $500 per month.
Outschool is a grand place for non-academic lessons. You can teach Beehive making, drawing using Adobe or even how to do lace braiding!
There are other platforms teachers can freelance on. With all these platforms you can advertise your services and find your own students. Here is a list of the sites.

Create an e-course
The second way teachers can make more money online is by creating an e-course on different platforms. On top of my list is Teachable, Udemy and Coursera. There are however many more platforms you can create e-courses on, but these 3 are top on my list.
Someone asked me what is an e-course? It is a course you can create on the things you teach. This can be languages or other subjects like math and social empowerment courses like etiquette, how to paint, or how to draw.
E-courses give you passive income. You create it once and spend more time marketing until referrals continue with marketing for you whilst you focus on active income like teaching in person.
My first e-course on Teachable brought me $300 in its first week and I was so super excited. Creating an e-course is one of the most effective ways to have a passive income for any mom who has other duties and takes care of kids at home.

Sell an e-book
Selling an e-book is almost similar to creating an e-course. Writing an e-book brings passive income too and makes you increase your income. You can create an e-book and promote it to the right audience. Your e-book should be related to the content you teach.
An e-book is also a means to add value to your Teaching package. Independent teachers provide value services. Click To TweetStudents whom you have helped can always refer to the book as they try to understand more of what you have taught them or what they have learnt elsewhere.
An example of an e-book that has helped me in my business is this book by Maia Heyck-Merlin. It helps teachers build the habits, customize the tools, and create space to become a Together Teacher. This practical resource shows teachers how to be effective and have a life! The ebook has helped me plan ahead, organize work and my classrooms, and how to spend my limited free time. The end goal is always strong outcomes for their students. Maia writes from experience and by sharing strategies that have worked for her through an e-book, she is earning passive income.

create cheat sheets and lesson plans and sell
Teachers are always looking for resources to use in their business. If you are quite knowledgeable in a certain area, you can create Cheatsheets and lesson plans to sell to other teachers. You can even create workbooks with the strategies you know will work for other teachers. Teacher platforms like Teachers pay Teachers and Amazon are great platforms to earn from. I have often found useful resources from these platforms. This means if you have expertise in a particular area, make money from it and sell.
5. promote content that can help other teachers and students
The fifth way to add to your income is to promote content that has worked for you and you know it will work for other fellow teachers. Earlier I mentioned that the e-book by James Liu is a great book. He also has a 21day Teacher challenge which I took and it transformed my business. It has worked for me and I know it will work for others too. This means I am already promoting it.
When I was struggling with ESL teaching, I found this material miraculously helpful. I have been promoting it to a dozen teachers who have asked for my help with ESL teaching.
Teachers can pitch to content developers and propose to promote their content in return for a fee. Usually, it is not much, but it is good to add to your income. I have seen great courses on teachable, Kajabi and Udemy which teachers can promote and earn.
Recently I found an amazing course through Pinterest. The course developer is training ESL teachers to start their own business. The ELT Skills Academy e-book is a magnificent tool for ESL teachers who want to start their own business. Teachers know what great courses look like, therefore you can easily promote them and earn as an addition to your income.
These are just a few of the products freelance teachers can promote and make more money.

sell your writing skills.
The last but not least idea on how freelance teachers can make more money is by writing informative posts for blogs or other teaching websites. There are so many websites that are looking for great content regarding your niche and you can write and sell your content to these websites.
Teachers have an advantage in that they are just not writing, but writing from experience. They know what works and what doesn’t. Click To Tweet
You can share lessons learnt from implementing certain classroom management strategies. These will be great for other teachers who read through websites to get help. Selling your writing skills is one-way freelance teachers make more money.
Here are some sites that teachers can find writing gigs.
Writing has become my newly found passion. As a teacher, it’s just so easy. Teachers can better still directly pitch to companies in their niche. They can write blog posts and so much more teaching-related content. I talk more about this in my freelance writing section.
